RIVER GEE COUNTY — Prominent Liberian lawyer Cllr. Kunkunyon Wleh Teh has announced plans to actively participate in Liberia’s 2029 political process but has dismissed suggestions that he has endorsed or aligned himself with any incumbent lawmaker, legislative aspirant or political group in River Gee County.
Teh said his specific political intentions, including the role he intends to play in the upcoming elections, will be officially disclosed at an appropriate time.
In a recent public statement addressing speculation about his political affiliations, the legal practitioner maintained that his immediate priorities remain community service, humanitarian assistance and development initiatives across River Gee County.
He said his involvement in community development is intended to complement government efforts to improve the living conditions of residents, regardless of their political, tribal or sectional affiliations.
According to Teh, his commitment to River Gee is guided by the need to promote cooperation among residents and encourage development activities that benefit communities throughout the county.
He emphasized that political differences should not prevent individuals and organizations from working together on initiatives intended to address the needs of citizens.
Addressing reports linking him to certain political figures and aspiring candidates, Teh acknowledged that individuals have the right to express their political preferences and support candidates of their choice.
However, he cautioned against interpreting such expressions as endorsements made on his behalf.
“We remain open to working with any individual, group, or institution whose values, ideals, and initiatives align with the best interests of our community and the development of River Gee County,” Teh stated.
He clarified that he has not declared support for any incumbent representative, aspiring representative or political team ahead of the 2029 presidential and legislative elections.
The lawyer also maintained that his willingness to collaborate with individuals and institutions on community projects should not be interpreted as evidence of a political alliance.
Teh said his development engagements remain open to people and organizations whose activities are consistent with the interests of River Gee residents.
Although he confirmed his intention to become actively involved in the 2029 political process, he did not indicate whether he intends to seek elected office, support a particular candidate or assume another political role.
He said details of his political direction and future engagements would be communicated publicly when a decision is made.
Meanwhile, Teh reiterated his commitment to humanitarian activities and development interventions across River Gee County.
He said his ongoing initiatives are intended to support communities and complement government programs aimed at addressing local development needs.
The legal practitioner also called for unity among residents, emphasizing that differences in political affiliation, tribal background and sectional interests should not undermine cooperation on issues affecting the county.
He maintained that development efforts should prioritize the collective interests of citizens rather than individual political ambitions.
