MONROVIA – Liberian lawyer Kunkunyon Wleh Teh has called on residents of Zwedru to remain calm and urged police and the Ministry of Justice to speed up their investigation into the reported disappearance and death of a young man, Samuel Gekor, from the Grebo community in the Grand Gedeh County capital.
“Every Liberian deserves the right to life, safety, and dignity, irrespective of tribe, county, or social standing. No family should be left without answers when a loved one dies under troubling circumstances,” Teh said.
Teh, a leading voice in the Grebo community and a former student of Bishop Juwel High School in Zwedru, said he has reached out to the family to offer his condolences and solidarity. He described the death as a matter of profound concern and extended his sympathy to the family and the wider Grebo community.
He urged the Liberia National Police and the Justice Ministry to establish the facts surrounding the disappearance and death, hold anyone found responsible accountable under the law, and keep the family and the public informed with timely, transparent and credible updates.
Acknowledging the community’s grief, fear and frustration, and its legitimate demand for answers, Teh asked residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding while the investigation continues. He cautioned against allowing anger to escalate into actions that could endanger lives or deepen divisions between communities.
He said the community’s responsibility now is to stand with the family, promote peace, and pursue justice through lawful means.
“Justice must be pursued, truth must prevail, and peace must be preserved,” Teh said.
