MONROVIA – The Female Journalists Association of Liberia has secured an invitation Wednesday for its members to apply for the 140 training places India has allocated to Liberia for 2026-27.
India’s Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma, extended the invitation at a meeting with FeJAL President Lisa T. Diasay at the Indian Embassy in Mamba Point. The places fall under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program, and qualified Liberians, including eligible women journalists, may apply. Amb. Verma also encouraged FeJAL members to apply for scholarships through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He said the association would be considered for future exposure visits and exchanges with Indian media institutions.
Ms.Diasay welcomed India’s continued investment in Liberia’s people. She said FeJAL is committed to partnerships that strengthen women’s participation and leadership in the media.
FeJAL named digital journalism, artificial intelligence, technology, newsroom leadership and professional exchanges as its priority areas for cooperation with India. Diasay also proposed that the embassy work directly with FeJAL’s network of county-based journalists. That would give reporters across Liberia better access to information on Indian-supported projects in agriculture, health and education, strengthen independent development reporting and open opportunities for women journalists beyond Monrovia.
Amb. Verma welcomed FeJAL’s interest and said the embassy would share information on its programs and opportunities through the association’s media network.
