Paynesville – The Liberia Telecommunications Authority said it is reviewing new rules governing how telecommunications companies in Liberia deploy, share, manage, and decommission their network infrastructure.
The LTA presented the Draft Infrastructure Regulations at a public consultation at the RLJ Resort in Paynesville, where internet service providers, mobile network operators, licensees and other industry stakeholders examined the proposed framework, raised concerns and made recommendations.
“Stakeholder participation is critical to ensuring that the proposed regulations are responsive to the realities of the telecommunications industry,” said Ben A. Fofana, the LTA’s licensing and regulation commissioner.
Fofana said collaboration between the regulator and service providers is essential, and that the industry’s expertise and practical experience will help strengthen the proposed framework.
The LTA said feedback gathered at the consultation will inform further review and refinement of the draft before the regulations are finalized. The authority described the consultation as part of its effort to promote transparency, inclusiveness and cooperation in the regulatory process, and said the regulations are intended to support the orderly deployment and management of telecommunications infrastructure and the sustainable growth of the sector.
