Monrovia – The Liberian Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has expressed her profound gratitude to the outgoing Ambassador of Sweden to Liberia, Urban Sjostrom, for the significant assistance Sweden has rendered to the Government and people of Liberia.
During a farewell courtesy call at the Foreign Ministry, followed by a bilateral discussion, Minister Nyanti praised Ambassador Sjostrom for his role in strengthening the bilateral and historic ties between Sweden and Liberia. Speaking on behalf of the Government of Liberia, she conveyed President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.’s sincere gratitude and best wishes to Ambassador Sjostrom for his successful tenure in Liberia. Minister Nyanti highlighted Sweden’s critical role in maintaining peace and harmony at the multilateral level and in providing development and humanitarian assistance to Liberia.
“As Ambassador Sjostrom takes his leave, it is a memorable moment for Liberia, reflecting on the diplomatic relations between Sweden and Liberia, which are at an all-time high,” said Minister Nyanti.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sjostrom expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and bilateral cooperation he received during his tenure in Liberia. “My task is over, and I will be returning home,” he stated. “I wish to express my thanks for all the cooperation that made my work smooth in Liberia, as we contribute to the growth of gender issues and assist in developing a blue economy among others.”
Ambassador Sjostrom reflected on his diplomatic service in Liberia, noting the excellent cooperation and significant achievements. He highlighted the privilege of interacting with key Liberian government officials and other personalities within the country.
The farewell meeting concluded with both diplomats reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between Liberia and Sweden.
