MONROVIA — In partial fulfillment of campaign promises to his constituents, Lofa County Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus has begun disbursing a six million Liberian Dollars ‘interest-free’ loan to women across the county.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Senator Cyrus, who chairs the Senate Committee on Security, Intelligence, and Veteran Affairs, started distributing the cash to the women through their respective groups.
The Chief of Staff in the office of the lawmaker, Arthur Kowah, told The Liberian Investigator that the initiative is only a pilot of a L$50 million ‘interest-free’ loan promise made by the senator to his constituents prior to his election to the senatorial post.
“The Senator remains committed to fulfilling his promises made to his people, and this ‘interest-free’ loan is just one of the many initiatives the office of Senator Cyrus has been undertaking across the county since his ascendancy,” he said.
Among other things, the COS further mentioned the launch of a L$1 million Scholarship Fund for students at Lofa County University and Free Pentecostal University in the county.
He added that Senator Cyrus constructed and dedicated a US$38,000 Modern Youth Center in Passama Town, Zorzor District. “During the launch, the Senator provided a brand new 3.5KVA generator, 75 pieces of plastic chairs, and L$100,000 cash for the operationalization of the facility.”
Mr. Kowah noted that the lawmaker also constructed and dedicated a US$40,000 Multipurpose Home for the Blind in Voinjama.
“It is always a humbling and pleasing duty to join our leader in delivering to our people,” Kowah asserted.
