SANNIQUELLIE — Nimba County marked another milestone in football infrastructure development over the weekend with the inauguration of its second artificial football pitch in Sanniquellie.

The Liberia Football Association inaugurated the facility Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, following the earlier opening of the county’s first artificial pitch and floodlights in Gompa City.

The project was jointly funded by the LFA and Jungle Water Group of Investment, marking the first public-private partnership implemented under the current LFA administration.

LFA President Mustapha I. Raji said the project fulfills the association’s commitment to expanding football infrastructure nationwide.

“Today, we continue to prove that we are fulfilling our promises, and we will continue to do so,” Raji said. “Our vision is to ensure that artificial pitches are developed across Liberia so every Liberian football talent has a chance to grow.”

Raji emphasized the importance of equal access to quality playing facilities for youth, women and former players.

“It is our responsibility to guarantee our boys and girls, as well as our legends, the opportunity to develop on quality pitches,” he said.

The LFA president also credited members of the association’s executive committee and the Legislature for supporting decisions that led to the construction of the pitch and other ongoing projects.

“As a vision bearer, it is important that the executive committee and stakeholders align with that vision to ensure that promises made are delivered,” Raji said.

Jungle Water Group of Investment CEO Tomah Seh Floyd Sr. thanked the LFA for what he described as a productive partnership and urged young people in Nimba to make proper use of the facility.

“We will continue to create opportunities for our young people to display their talents,” Floyd said. “Let’s work to produce a great player from Nimba that we will see playing on screens tomorrow.”

Floyd expressed optimism about future collaboration with the LFA, including plans to install floodlights and construct mini pitches outside the main facility to accommodate more young players.

The Sanniquellie pitch is the fifth artificial pitch completed under the current LFA administration since 2018, in addition to two FIFA Arena mini pitches inaugurated in September.
