Liberian youngster Devine Roosevelt Teah has won the Czech Republic First League title in his debut season with Slavia Prague.
Prague secured its eighth Czech title with a dominant 5-0 victory over Sigma Olomouc on Saturday.
The club clinched the championship with four matches still to play, ending a four-year drought for the league crown.
Teah, 19, signed a five-year contract with Slavia Prague after playing for Hammarby in Sweden’s top league. The transfer was announced on Oct. 30, 2024, and officially took effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
He was one of the highest-valued Liberian transfers in history, potentially costing Slavia Prague up to 50 million Swedish kronor (about 3.5 million euros).
The achievement is particularly significant for Teah, as it represents his first major trophy at the professional level. Although he was an unused substitute in the decisive match, Teah has featured in five matches so far this season, totaling 60 minutes of action.
It was, however, the third trophy in Europe for Teah’s countryman, Murphy Oscar Dorley, who has been a consistent figure in Prague’s squad. Dorley joined Slavia Prague on Aug. 11, 2019, from Slovan Liberec and has gone on to make 170 appearances in all competitions for the club.
Slavia Prague will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage next season, but Dorley appears likely to depart the club after seven successful years. Several clubs have expressed interest in the Lone Star skipper, and Slavia are now willing to let go of their star midfielder following reinforcement during the midseason transfer window.
