Bong ‘political godfather’ title sparks controversy as Sen. Moye labels BOCA a ‘paid agent’

GBARNGA, Bong County — Bong County Senator Prince Moye has fired back at the Bong County Christian Association (BOCA) for denouncing the recent bestowal of the “political godfather” title upon him.

Addressing journalists in Gbarnga, Sen. Moye argued that BOCA lacks the legal authority to question the decision by the Prophetic Call to Ministry Like-minded Pastors to honor him with the controversial title.

“The group of pastors didn’t say the Bong Christian Association — this is very clear,” Moye said. “Besides, BOCA doesn’t dictate to any church who to honor and who not to honor. BOCA’s jurisdiction does not extend to an individual church that decides to honor me.”

Moye criticized the Christian organization for what he described as overstepping its functions by publicly condemning the pastors’ decision, warning that such actions could fuel division within the Christian community.

It can be recalled that BOCA recently criticized the political godfather title awarded to Sen. Moye, arguing that it could deepen the existing divisions among political leaders in the county. BOCA expressed concern that the county’s lawmakers are already fractured, and that conferring such a title on Sen. Moye could exacerbate the situation.

In a sharp response, Moye — who recently donated a vehicle to BOCA — labeled the association as “paid agents,” accusing its leaders of siding with opposition lawmakers in their criticism of his new title.

“Those from BOCA criticizing the pastors for honoring me are the real paid agents,” Moye said. “BOCA does not have any rule that says a church must inform them before honoring someone. Let’s be clear about that. That’s why I said the church, too, needs reconciliation.”

Sen. Moye further argued that his rise to the county’s highest political seat through broad endorsements demonstrates that he deserves the political godfather title.

He also vowed to ensure that the ongoing reconciliation efforts in Bong County would extend to churches as part of a broader push to foster unity within the Christian community.
