Sen. Snowe rebukes Asst. Min. Gbaa for alleged disrespect toward Minister Beysolow Nyanti

CAPITOL HILL – Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe has publicly warned Assistant Foreign Minister for Public Affairs, Sarwhar Nana Gbaa, to accord due respect to her boss, Foreign Affairs Minister Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti.

Assistant Minister Gbaa accompanied Minister Beysolow Nyanti and other officials of the ministry to a public hearing with the Senate Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security, Defense, Intelligence, and Veteran Affairs on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Capitol Building.

During the hearing, Senator Snowe, while questioning witnesses before the committee, singled out Assistant Minister Gbaa, alleging that she had been disrespectful to her boss at the ministry.

According to our legislative correspondent, instead of directing his inquiries to Minister Beysolow Nyanti and her principal deputies, the lawmaker took a moment to sternly caution the Assistant Minister over what he described as her “unbecoming behavior” toward her superior.

“Madam Sarwhar Gbaa, do you know Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti?” Snowe asked.

“Yes,” Gbaa responded.

“Who is she to you?” the senator further inquired.

“She is my boss,” Gbaa acknowledged.

Senator Snowe then emphatically warned Gbaa against any act of disrespect toward Minister Beysolow Nyanti, stating that reports from the ministry regarding her conduct were unbecoming of an Assistant Minister.

He also questioned Gbaa about her educational background, asking whether she had graduated from the Foreign Service Institute. Gbaa responded that she was still attending the institution.

Snowe urged her to dedicate herself to learning, stating, “I will publicly encourage you to take note of that.”

Prior to the senator’s public rebuke, there had been speculation of a rift between Minister Beysolow Nyanti and Assistant Minister Gbaa within the ministry.

However, Snowe’s approach in addressing a junior government official in such a public manner raised eyebrows, leaving many wondering why he chose such a platform for his warning.

Our reporter observed that during the exchange, Assistant Minister Gbaa kept her head down, focusing on her phone, and only responded with a brief, “Okay.”
